Eli Boonin-Vail is a first year Master’s candidate in Cinema Studies with an interest in Prison cinema, masculinity in film, and feminist film theory. Before coming to the University of Iowa, he studied film, history, and gender studies at Brandeis University and worked as an associate producer on an independent documentary in Boston. Eli’s favorite directors are Federico Fellini, John Ford, and Hirokazu Koreeda.
