Force Majeure, White Christmas and Die Hard (with guest Stephen Markley)

Our line-up includes Force Majeure, a delightfully dark comedy by Swedish filmmaker Ruben Östlund.  Force Majeure opened at FilmScene last Friday, and has its final screening tomorrow, Thursday December 11 at 7PM.  Next, we’ll be discussing White Christmas, starring Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye, which plays at FilmScene this Saturday, December 13 at 10AM and next Thursday, December 18 at 3PM as part of The Picture Show, a family and children’s series, presented by Midwest One Bank.  Finally we’ll be discussing that other Christmas classic, Die Hard, starring Bruce Willis as John McClane.  Die Hard plays at FilmScene this Saturday, December 13, at 11PM as part of Bijou After Hours.  Super-fan Stephen Markley will be joining us during our third segment to discuss the film.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Elf and Rosewater (with Guest Josh Voorhees)

Our line-up includes the animated/live action comedy Who Framed Roger Rabbit? which plays at FilmScene this Saturday night at 11PM as part of Bijou After Hours. Next, we’ll be discussing Elf, starring Will Ferrell as Buddy the Elf, which plays at FilmScene this Saturday, December 6 at 10AM and next Thursday, December 11 at 3PM as part of The Picture Show, a family and children’s series, presented by Midwest One Bank. Finally we’ll be discussing Rosewater, Jon Stewart’s directorial debut based on the true story of journalist Maziar Bahari. Rosewater which opened last Friday at FilmScene, and will continue to play throughout the weekend and following week. Josh Voorhees, a senior writer at Slate, will be joining us during our third segment to discuss the film.

Our line-up includes the classic Singin in the Rain, which plays at FilmScene this Saturday and Sunday, November 22 and 23 at noon. Next, we'll be discussing CitizenFour, Laura Poitras's documentary of Edward Snowden and his revelations about NSA surveillance.CitizenFour opened at FimScene last Friday and will continue to play throughout this weekend and into the following week. Finally we'll be discussing The Overnighters, a documentary that offers a portrait of job-seekers in the oil-boom town of Williston, North Dakota. Opening this Friday, The Overnighters plays at FilmScene for one week only from November 21st to the 27th.
